
75 science tech & innovation hubs to be set up exclusively for SCs & STs: Government

The government will set up 75 SIT Hubs for ST and SC communities for the socio-economic development of these communities, says Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
The Union Minister Jitendra Singh, on Wednesday, said that the government will set up 75 Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Hubs across India. This will be exclusive to the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribres (STs) to promote scientific talents and contribute towards the socio-economic development of these communities. Singh said that the decision was taken after a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
He added that 75 STI Hubs will be set up in the country exclusively for SCs and STs with the aim of development, ensuring, and ensuring the delivery of appropriate and relevant technologies for the creation of sustainable livelihoods for these communities. The Union minister of state (independent charge) science and technology said STI hubs will mainly have three-fold objectives.
