South superstar Vijay Deverakonda turns 33 today, May 9. The actor had made his debut in a supporting role in Ravi Babu’s Nuvvila back in 2011. Now, he is one of the most sought-after stars in the country. In fact, he is ready to make his Hindi debut with Liger. On the occasion of Vijay’s birthday, here are the reasons for you to look forward to Liger.
Vijay Deverakonda took professional mixed martial arts training and also underwent a physical transformation to do justice to the role of a boxer in Liger. The actor trained for six hours a day. In a 2021 interview with a news portal, Vijay spoke about his preparation for the upcoming film.
He said, “Liger has been one of my most challenging films. It has been an intense workout schedule, and my body is no more like it used to be; it is now a body of a fighter. The regimen has now become a part of my lifestyle and I’m enjoying it. I’ve been dedicated to this film for about two years. I wanted to do it the second I heard the story and I decided that I wanted India to see the best version of this story possible. When I take something on, I go all in and that is exactly what I have done with this film too.”

World-famous boxing legend Mike Tyson has an extended cameo in Liger. A source close to the the film had revealed that the film might also have a special ode to the infamous ear-biting moment from Tyson’s 1997 fight with Evander Holyfield.
“Mike is still talked-about for that moment which is one of the most controversial fights in boxing history. His cameo in Liger is a huge deal for the makers and there is talk that they might include a reference to the ear-biting episode in the film as well,” the source said.
