A total of 26 Rohingyas, including 12 children, were detained by police from Silchar in Assam's Cachar on Sunday.
As many as 26 Rohingyas, including 12 children, were detained by Assam's Cachar district police on Sunday morning from Silchar, police said.
As per reports, the Rohingyas were detained after they were found travelling without any valid documents.
"The Rohingyas reached Kamakhya railway station in Guwahati on Saturday night and travelled to Silchar by road. They were coming from Jammu. Of the total, 12 are children. They are currently under interrogation and we are investigating the matter," said Ramandeep Kaur, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Cachar district.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
