The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno launch will take place in the coming weeks and ahead of its arrival, the company has started accepting bookings for the upcoming hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki has announced that the bookings for the 2022 Baleno have commenced. The new Baleno has made many improvements on its looks front with what appears to be an extensive redesign of the nose. The headlamps are still wraparound but slimmer and feature triple shark fin LED Daytime running lights, the grille is now larger. The sides too appear to get a muscular appearance, while the rear appears to have wider and redesigned wraparound tail lights.

Speaking on the upcoming launch, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “The Baleno brand has redefined the premium hatchbacks in India. With over 1 million delighted Baleno customers, it reigns the premium hatchback segment and has been consistently featuring among the top 5 best-selling cars in the country. Heavy redesign of the interiors is expected from the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The highlight would be a floating infotainment display, larger and with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will get a segment-first head-up display that can display speed, fuel efficiency, climate control, RPM and other details. The central console and the dashboard are expected to get a redesign, however, this can only be confirmed after Maruti Suzuki provides more images.

Feature wise, the outgoing Baleno gets plenty like LED projector headlamps, push button start/stop, tilt and telescopic steering, automatic climate control, 60:40 rear split seats, parking assist sensors, automatic headlamps and many more. The new car is expected to be loaded with even more features. Six airbags and ESP to be offered on the top-spec trim.

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the 1.2-litre DualJet petrol will continue to power the Baleno which makes 90bhp. This DualJet motor which comes with a mild-hybrid setup has so far only been available with a manual transmission. The other 1.2-litre option was being offered with a 5-speed manual and a CVT. There are chances for an AMT to be introduced too.
