11-year-old girl runs away from Raipur home to meet boyfriend in Rajasthan, rescued

A minor girl from Chhattisgarh who ran away from her house to meet her boyfriend was rescued by a child helpline in Rajasthan. The boy had switched off his phone when the girl said that she had not brought cash and jewellery from home.
An eleven-year-old girl from Chhattisgarh who allegedly ran away from her house to meet her boyfriend was rescued at Rajasthan's Dholpur railway station today. The girl, a resident of Raipur, who was rescued by the child helpline team, got down at Dholpur railway station instead of Agra.
However, she landed in trouble when her boyfriend switched off his phone as she had failed to carry cash and jewellery from her house. The minor, who is a student of Class 11, started crying when her repeated attempts to call her lover went in vain, leaving her in a dilemma.
The child helpline officials found the girl crying at the railway station and took her to Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members Girish Gurjar and Nargis Sharifi. The girl was produced before CWC for counselling, from where she was sent to a 'Sakhi One Stop Centre' till the disposal of legal proceedings in the matter.
The family of the minor had filed a kidnapping complaint at the nearby police station when she did not return from school. The family members told the CWC team that they had searched for the girl everywhere but could not find her, prompting them to launch a complaint. The parents of the girl were informed and have been asked to come to Dholpur.
CWC member, Girish Gurjar, told India Today,"During the counselling, the girl said that her boyfriend had asked her how much cash and jewellery she carried. When the girl replied that she did not have cash and other eatables as she left the home in a hurry, the boy disconnected the call and switched off the phone. The girl boarded the train to reach Agra thinking that the boy would come to receive her but the boy's phone was switched off."
"The girl had made plans with her boyfriend to live in rented accommodation in Agra," he added.
