
Youth Congress chief arrested over shirtless AI Summit protest

Sources said the Youth Congress chief was arrested after being grilled for nearly 20 hours. He has been booked on charges of criminal conspiracy, voluntarily causing harm to a public servant, obstructing a public servant on duty, and wilful disobedience.
Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested Indian Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib in the early hours of the morning, marking the eighth arrest in connection with the shirtless protest and slogans raised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the last day of the AI Summit.
Sources said the Youth Congress chief was arrested after being grilled for nearly 20 hours. He has been booked on charges of criminal conspiracy, voluntarily causing harm to a public servant, obstructing a public servant on duty, and wilful disobedience.
According to Congress MP Sasikanth Senthil, Chib was picked up by Delhi Police at around 4:30 am and has been in police custody for nearly 20 hours. The police are likely to produce him in court after 10 am. While Congress leaders have confirmed the arrest, the Delhi Police has so far remained tight-lipped on the matter.
Delhi Police will produce Uday Bhanu Chib in court and seek police custody remand.
According to sources, evidence has been found suggesting that Uday Bhanu was involved in the planning.
There is a need for prolonged questioning of Uday Bhanu, and for that, he needs to be taken into custody for interrogation, police sources told India Today TV.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
