'Your fate won't be any different': Citing Tamilisai, DMK's warning to state governors

In its mouthpiece Murasoli, the DMK has warned the governors to work in tandem with the state governments if they do not want their fate to be like that of Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has warned the governors to work in tandem with the state governments or their "fate will not be different" from Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who recently complained of discrimination by the state government.

In its mouthpiece Murasoli, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu published an article titled - 'Tamilisai’s was not a mere statement, but a lesson for some Governors to correct themselves'.

The article warned governors to stop working as alleged agents of the Union government and work with the state governments for the welfare of the people.

"To keep the people and their interests from being hurt by the fight between the state government and the Governor, some state governments may be trying to find a middle ground for greater good. But if governors keep getting in the way most of the time, they will end up in the same situation as Governor Soundararajan. So all self-styled governors should realise this sooner than later," the DMK mouthpiece said.

“Instead of working as agents for the party (BJP) that runs the Union government, governors should work with the state government for the people’s good,” it added.

Last week, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan alleged that she was humiliated by the state government and that the TRS government was undermining her post as she is a woman. She pointed to being denied the governor's address to the state assembly, hoisting the Tricolour on Republic Day and protocol not being followed during her official visits.

The column, in a warning to Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, said, “It is good for all governors, including the Tamil Nadu Governor, who go against their constitutional limits to dominate and control the state governments, to remember that their fate will not be different from that of the Telangana Governor.”
