Senior Karnataka BJP leader BS Yediyurappa has hinted at a bigger role for his son in the near future. His son, BS Vijayendra was denied a ticket for the upcoming legislative council polls.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday, May 25 hinted at a 'bigger role' for his son BY Vijayendra, who was denied a BJP ticket for the upcoming legislative council polls.
Ignoring the recommendation of the state unit to field Vijayendra for the June 3 biennial elections to seven seats of Karnataka Legislative Council, the party central leadership on Tuesday announced the names of four candidates.
Reacting to the snub, BS Yediyurappa claimed that the party wouldn't let down people who are talented and dedicated.
Yediyurappa said, "We are hopeful that there are more opportunities for Vijayendra in the future. The party will not let down people who are talented and dedicated. We are confident of returning to power in 2023 and we are taking all decisions in that regard."
"He is also the party's vice president, they'll provide better opportunities. It is left to party president JP Nadda and PM Modi. Very soon some changes could be made. I am hopeful," he added.
Earlier, there were some reports that Yediyurappa had desired to make his son an MLC and then insisted on making him a minister in the Basavaraj Bommai cabinet.
BS Yediyurappa is an MLA from the Shikaripura assembly seat, while his elder son BY Raghavendra is the Shivamogga MP.
