Yakshagana Kendra at Mangalore University gets an additional ₹1 crore donation

Mangalore University's Yakshagana Kendra receives ₹1 crore donation from philanthropist P. Dayananda Pai, totaling ₹2 crores in support.
Yakshagana Adhyayana Kendra at Mangalore University has received an additional ₹1 crore donation from P. Dayananda Pai, a philanthropist.
Mr. Dayananda Pai, who is the chairman of BMS College of Engineering and chairman and managing director of Century Group, handed over the DD for the amount to P.L. Dharma, Vice-Chancellor of the university, at a function organised by the Kendra on the university campus, Mangalagangotri, on Saturday.
Earlier, both Mr. Dayananda Pai and his brother P. Satish Pai had donated ₹1 crore to the Kendra. With the additional donation, the Kendra has now received a total of ₹2 crores in donations.
The Kendra had organised a function to present its Yakshamangala Award and Yakshamangala Book Award for 2025-26.
The Yakshamangala Award was presented to senior Yakshagana Bhagawata Kappekere Subraya Bhagawata, Yakshagana teacher Mambady Subrahmanya Bhat, and senior Talamaddale ‘arthadhaari’ Jabbar Samo Sampaje. The award carried prize money of ₹25,000 and a citation. In the absence of Kappekere Subraya Bhagawata at the function, his brother Mahabala Hegde received the award.
The Yakshamangala Book Award was presented to Yakshagana artist Krishna Prakash Ulithaya’s two works, Balipa Marga and Agarimarga. The award carried a prize money of ₹10,000 and a citation.
