Women whoop it up at advance Women’s Day celebrations

Celebrations ahead of International Women's Day featured games, recognitions, and empowerment initiatives for women in Visakhapatnam.
Felicitations, meetings, games and special events for women marked the celebrations ahead of International Women’s Day at government offices and by various organisations on Friday.

Games such as ‘lemon and spoon race’ and ‘tug of war’ were organised for women employees at the Collectorate.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad said that women were making their presence felt in all sectors and contributing to the development of society. Earlier, the Collector and Joint Collector G. Vidhyadhari released balloons to inaugurate the games.
The East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, Waltair, celebrated the occasion at Sagarmala here on Friday. Jyotsna Bohra, president of the organisation, highlighted the vital role played by women in the progress and development of the nation.
Gayatri Santharaman, vice-president of ECoRWWO, Ankita Sharma, secretary, and Tanuja, treasurer, were among those who participated.
