Protecting crowds from the scorching sun at election rallies in Madurai is essential for public safety and comfort.
It’s election time and VIPs and VVIPs visits would be frequent in Madurai district. However, the polls coinciding with the summer are putting cadre of political parties and members of public to lot of inconvenience due to the scorching sun.
At the NDA meeting on March 1, addressed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and AIADMK general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the gathering had a tough time putting up with the hot conditions.
With the Prime Minister being accorded the highest scale of security, the police left no stones unturned with respect to security measures.
The crowd started trickling in right from noon though the meeting was schedled for 4 p.m.
The members of the public were not allowed to carry anything, including water bottles and umbrellas, into the meeting venue.
“That was part of the security measure with the VVIP to be on the stage,” said a police officer.
