
With wire around neck, NEET aspirant dies after jumping off building in Raipur

A NEET aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur on Sunday morning. The student was residing in a rented accommodation while preparing for the medical entrance examination (NEET).
The deceased has been identified as Pushpendra Patel, a native of Raigarh district. According to preliminary information, he reportedly jumped from a two-storey building after tying a GI wire (galvanised iron) around his neck, in the Awdhpuri area of Bhatagaon, and was later found hanging.
Police from Purani Basti Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and further inquiry is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
Earlier in November last year, a 21-year-old NEET aspirant from Uttar Pradesh died by suicide in a Kanpur hostel. In his note, he expressed regret over not being able to fulfil his parents' dream.

As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
