Will ensure all voices are heard, says TMC’s Sushmita Dev, lone woman in panel reviewing marriage age

Trinamool Congress MP Sushmita Dev is the only woman in the 31-member parliamentary panel assigned to examine the bill which seeks to raise the legal age of marriage for women to 21.

Trinamool Congress MP Sushmita Dev on Sunday assured that she will ensure that all voices are heard when the Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports takes up the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill. However, she added that she did wish more female MPs were part of the committee.

Interestingly, the TMC MP from Rajya Sabha is the only female MP in the 31-member parliamentary panel which will now look into the bill that seeks to raise the legal age of marriage for women.
