Why senior Gujarat Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki announced break from politics

Senior Gujarat Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki announced a break from politics for a few months. Here is the reason why Solanki announced a temporary break from politics.

Congress leader and former union minister Bharatsinh Solanki announced a break from active politics for a few months. The announcement came amid a troubled marriage and after a video linked to it went viral a couple of days ago.

In the video, Solanki's wife and her entourage entered the hotel room, after which she grabbed the girl and began mercilessly yanking her hair and flinging her around the room. Bharatsinh Solanki, on the other hand, appeared to be putting a stop to it.

'You're sitting with my husband... I won't leave you...' and other remarks like 'take a video of this' and 'show your face' can be heard in the video.

Solanki made the announcement during a media briefing on Friday. Solanki alleged a conspiracy behind the incident as the state assembly elections are near and said, “Why are such allegations leveled against me only when elections are near? Be it the 2007, 2012 or 2017 elections and now that the 2022 elections are also approaching, why are these allegations being leveled against me?”

Talking about the viral video of his wife assaulting a woman, Solanki said, “I have filed for a divorce and the matter is in court. Till the matter is there in court, I will not talk about it”.

However, Bharatsinh Solanki accused his wife Reshma Patel of taking money from people in his name which he had to pay later.

While announcing the break from politics, Solanki said that the incident would cause harm to the Congress in the upcoming elections. “The elections are near and I don’t want the Congress to bear the brunt which is why I am taking a break,” said Solanki.
