It can feel overwhelming and draining to work toward or hope for change when you feel like change isn’t happening. Many organizers and activists on the front lines have experienced moments of hopelessness given recent attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, the passing of abortion bans, inaction on climate protection, the refusal to pass meaningful gun violence protections and so many other events. It can take a toll on mental health.
If you, too, sometimes feel discouraged by the state of things or by a lack of progress, understand that your emotions are valid and you’re not the only one.
