
West Bengal BJP offers rebel TMC party members to join

Bharatiya Janata Party's Bengal unit vice president invited expelled Trinamool Congress party members to join the saffron party.
Bharatiya Janata Party's West Bengal unit vice president, Soumitra Khan, on Saturday invited the expelled Trinamool Congress party members -- who did not get tickets in the upcoming civic polls -- to join the saffron party.
While campaigning for the upcoming civic polls in Sonamukhi, Khan told mediapersons that the rebel TMC leaders are welcome to join the BJP.
He took a potshot at the ruling party, saying, "Trinamool is not a party, it's a property".

He said, "If rebel TMC leaders, who were denied tickets for the upcoming municipality elections -- join BJP, it will give strength to our party.'
Khan's remark came days after the official deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended. The TMC asked the extra candidates to withdraw from the election.
Reacting to Soumitra Khan's remarks, Biswanath Mukherjee, Trinamool leader from Sonamukhi Block said, "We are not going to react to his pointless comments; expelling members is the party's decision".

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
