According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected to lash the northern states from today as the southwest monsoon has revived in the country. Heavy downpours are also likely to continue in the northwestern region such as Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The Southwest Monsoon is set to revive in northwest India from Thursday after a gap of over two weeks and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall for many states. The monsoon wreaked havoc in many parts of the country in July in states such as Karnataka and Maharashtra where incessant rainfall led to a flood-like situation and landslides and caused several deaths. There are no facilities of ration, electricity, medicine etc," says a local pic.twitter.com/aWcK3pPrMA In its latest weather bulletin, the weather department said isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand till tomorrow. The IMD has also predicted widespread rainfall activity in Bihar till August 22.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
