The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fall in temperature this week in Delhi, following rainfall on February 3 and 4.
While Delhi witnessed a warm January Sunday yesterday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a drop in mercury in Delhi due to light rainfall this week.
As per the prediction by the weather department, Delhi might experience rainfall due to an active western disturbance on February 3 and 4. Hilly areas are likely to experience snowfall this week.
According to the IMD's report, the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be around 23 degrees in the next three days, while it could hover between 19 and 20 degrees Celsius on February 3 and 4.
As per the report published by the Hindustan Times, RK Jenamani, a scientist at IMD, said "Due to the approaching intense western disturbance, minimum temperatures are gradually going to rise over northwest India. The impact of the WD will be felt mainly in the hills and northern areas, but on February 3 we can expect light rain in Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh as well. The system will move eastwards bringing rain to Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal also."
"Thereafter there will be a fall in minimum temperatures but it’s very difficult to say if there will be cold wave conditions again. Till the first half of February cold wave conditions can still arise," he added.
Jenamani revealed that the intensity of the rainfall will be light as compared to the showers witnessed in mid-January. "However, we can still expect gusty conditions," he said.
The national capital witnessed a slight increase in the minimum temperature on Sunday. While the minimum temperature was at 7.5 degrees Celcius, the maximum was at 22.2 degrees Celsius.
