Thol. Thirumavalavan explains decision to not share stage with Vijay at book launch to thwart ideological enemies' plans.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi founder and Chidambaram M.P., Thol. Thirumavalavan, on Friday said the decision to not appear on stage with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam founder actor Vijay at the book launch function of ‘Ellarukkumana Thalaivar: Dr. Ambedkar’, co-published by VCK deputy general secretary Aadhav Arjuna, was taken to ensure that the ‘plans of their ideological enemies were thwarted’ instead of thinking solely about ‘what he would gain by it’.
In a statement explaining his decision to withdraw from the event, Mr. Thirumavalavan said, “Why doesn’t anyone have the guts to ask how the publication was able to come to an easy decision to go ahead with the event with Mr. Vijay? Nobody questioned the publication’s decision, which wanted to ensure that Vijay wasn’t hurt in anyway but didn’t care about whether I was hurt. I am just putting it out there just for debate.”
Mr. Thirumavalavan said he, too, was one of the reasons why Vikatan had come to a decision.
“I had communicated to Vikatan that I would never ask them to disinvite Vijay for the event and that I would never embarrass them. After I realised that I am being used as a piece in Tamil Nadu’s politics, how could I allow it? I took a decision to ensure that the plans of our ideological enemies were thwarted instead of looking at how I would benefit. Therefore, I asked them to go ahead with the event with Vijay,” he said.
Mr. Thirumavalavan added, “Nobody can threaten or control us.”
