Dalit leader and MLA from Vadgam seat in Gujarat Jignesh Mevani was attacked during a public meeting in Ahmedabad. Jignesh Mevani's team, through a tweet, claimed that the attack was carried out by goons of former state home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja.

Congress leader Jignesh Mevani and Scheduled Castes Department chairman Hitendra Pithadiya were present for a meeting at Narmada Apartment in Vastral, Ahmedabad, when the attack took place.
Hitendra Pithadiya, through a tweet, claimed that Pradipsinh Jadeja's goon Labhu Desai attacked Jignesh Mevani and tried to put the meeting to a stop. He further claimed that the attack was carried out in the presence of the police and through this he raised questions on the law and order situation in the state.
