Volkswagen has opened pre-bookings for its new flagship Tayron R-Line in India, a premium seven-seat SUV that marks the brand's return to the three-row segment with local assembly and performance focus.
Volkswagen India has officially commenced pre-bookings for the Tayron R-Line, its upcoming flagship seven-seat SUV, marking the brand’s return to the premium three-row SUV segment. Customers can now reserve the Tayron R-Line with a booking amount of Rs 51,000 across authorised Volkswagen dealerships nationwide as well as through the brand’s official digital platforms. Positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron R-Line will be locally assembled in India using CKD kits, a move aimed at strengthening Volkswagen’s premium portfolio while keeping pricing competitive. The SUV is expected to be priced in the Rs 50–60 lakh (ex-showroom) range when it goes on sale.
Built on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO platform, the Tayron R-Line is significantly larger than the Tiguan, allowing it to comfortably accommodate three rows of seating. Measuring 4,792mm in length with a 2,789mm wheelbase, the SUV offers a boot capacity of up to 850 litres with the third row folded. Styling highlights include sporty R-Line design elements, aggressive bumpers, 19-inch alloy wheels, HD Matrix LED headlamps and illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear.
Inside, the Tayron R-Line boasts a tech-rich and premium cabin. Key features include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, augmented reality-based head-up display, 30-colour ambient lighting with illuminated R-Line inserts and a panoramic sunroof. Comfort and convenience features include 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory, ventilation and massage functions, a powered tailgate, three-zone climate control and an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Powering the Tayron R-Line is Volkswagen’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TSI engine producing 204bhp and 320Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. Performance figures include a 0–100kmph time of 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 224kmph.
Safety is another strong focus, with the Tayron R-Line equipped with nine airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start and hill-descent assist, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS with 14 driver assistance features. The SUV has also secured a 5-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests.
