We have said it before, and we will say it again — Vijay Deverakonda has changed how we look, and will continue to look, at Indian grooms.

Indian celebrity weddings have long been dominated by spectacular bridal fashion. When Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone or even Katrina Kaif were set to tie the knot, almost all of us remember obsessing over what the brides would wear and how dreamy they would look. And perhaps that has always been the norm.

The groom? He usually plays it safe.

Think about it. Not just celebrity grooms (who, of course, have access to top designers, stylists and makeup artists), even a typical Indian man getting married doesn’t pay too much heed to clothes or accessories. Not many go scouting for wedding outfits for multiple days, jewellery or accessories are not even part of the plan. The wedding wardrobe is almost predictable — an ivory or beige sherwani, a safa, maybe a brooch and a layered haar if he’s feeling adventurous.
