YLP requests an additional ₹50 crore for Andhra University in the A.P. Budget, marking its centenary year.
Viswa Hindi Parishad (VHP) national president Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, while hailing the overall A.P. Budget, has sought an increase of ₹50 crore in the Budget for Andhra University (AU) for 2026-27.
In a statement on Sunday (February 15, 2026), Mr. Lakshmi Prasad said that although there was a hike in the Budget for Andhra University by ₹10 crore compared to the 2025-26 Budget, the allocation this year was ₹26.27 crore less than that of 2024-25. Since this is the centenary year of Andhra University, he felt that allocating an additional ₹50 crore in the Budget would benefit the university.
Andhra University was allocated ₹389.34 crore, this year, which is ₹10 crore more than last year. In 2024-25, AU was allocated ₹417.25 crore. Mr. Lakshmi Prasad reiterated his plea to the State Government for increasing the Budget for AU by ₹50 crore this year.
