
Uproar in Bihar assembly over Friday prayers: Oppn, BJP leaders trade barbs

The leaders indulged in a heated argument after the assembly speaker extended the proceedings of the House after 12:30 pm, which, according to him, was done after getting the consent of Muslim legislators present in the House.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly on Friday witnessed a massive uproar over the proceedings of the House not being adjourned at 12:30 pm for Friday prayers as per established tradition.
The treasury and the opposition indulged in a heated argument after assembly speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha extended the proceeding of the House beyond 12:30 pm, which, according to him, was done after getting the consent of Muslim legislators present in the House.
The ruckus inside the House started with Congress MLA Vijay Shankar Dubey opposing the decision of the speaker to extend the timing of the House proceeding.

Thereafter, AIMIM and CPI-ML legislators Akhtarul Iman and Mehboob Alam started creating a ruckus opposing the extension of the House proceedings. Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, who was miffed by the behaviour of both Muslim legislators, asked them not to indulge in politics over the Friday prayer issue.
Akhtar ul Iman along with Mehboob Alam came into the well of the House and protested.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Pradeep Kumar apprised the House regarding the issue of the mafia grabbing the land belonging to gaushalas in Bihar.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
