UP Warriorz rocked before playoffs with star batter ruled out with injury

WPL 2026: Phoebe Litchfield has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, after which the UP Warriorz roped in Amy Jones as her replacement. The Warriorz are currently struggling at the bottom of the table with two matches left.
UP Warriorz’s WPL 2026 campaign has taken a major hit with star batter Phoebe Litchfield ruled out for the rest of the season due to a quad injury. The Australian left-hander, who had been the team’s top run-scorer with 243 runs in six matches, was among the tournament’s standout performers before her forced exit.
Litchfield, currently third on the Orange Cap leaderboard with a strike rate above 150 and two half-centuries, had been pivotal to UP Warriorz’s batting lineup. Her loss comes at a crucial stage, with playoff qualification hanging in the balance.
To fill the void, the franchise has brought in England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones as Litchfield’s replacement. An experienced campaigner with over 125 T20Is, Jones, signed at a base price of Rs 50 lakh, adds depth and experience as the team fights to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Currently, at the bottom of the points table with four points from six games, UP Warriorz must win their remaining matches and improve their net run rate to stay in contention — a challenge made tougher without Litchfield’s firepower.
Big hits, bigger energy. Thank you for the memories, Phoebe Can't wait to see you again #UttarDega #TATAWPL #UPWarriorz pic.twitter.com/TrZUodHGJ0— UP Warriorz (@UPWarriorz) January 28, 2026
