UP police attaches properties worth Rs 15 crore of Mukhtar Ansari's brother

Properties worth Rs 15 crore of Mukhtar Ansari's brother Afzal Ansari were attached by Ghazipur police.

Ghazipur police have attached four properties worth Rs 15 crore belonging to the elder brother of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, Afzal Ansari. The properties of Mukhtar Ansari's brother, who is also the BSP MP from Ghazipur, were attached today in the presence of heavy police force and revenue officials.

The action was taken in Macha village under the leadership of Ghazipur SP Rohan P Botre and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Harshita Tiwari.

"Ghazipur police attached properties of the elder brother of Mukhtar Ansari and BSP MP from Ghazipur Afzal Ansari. The attachment was done in the presence of a heavy police force and revenue officers. The action was taken by Ghazipur DM after a report was submitted by the Superintendent of the police. An attachment order was issued under provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Act and subsequently action was taken," SP Rohan P Botre said.

"We have attached four lands: Terai Pargana and Khardiha Pargana of Mauja Narsinghpur. The administration has clearly talked about attachment of their properties for the MP. Police have attached four lands from Mauja Mancha, Panetha Pargana, Mauja Narsinghpur's Terai Pargana and Khardiha Pargana under Mohammadabad Tehsil. The properties worth Rs 15 crore were traded in an illegal manner," he added.

Mukhtar Ansari has been a five-time MLA from Mau constituency from 1996 to 2022. However, he did not contest the Assembly elections this year. His son, Abbas Ansari, contested from Mau seat this time on a SBSP (Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party) ticket under the SP-led alliance, and won the polls.
