A home guard posted in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur has made accusations against the district commandant for trying to force him into physical intimacy with him. But the charge has been denied by the commandant, claiming that the home guard was levelling "baseless allegations" against him as he was reprimanded for being absent from duty for days. Speaking to reporters, the home guard also alleged that the commandant takes Rs 1,000 from him every month.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
