
Underground tunnel collapses in Narmada valley, several feared trapped

An underground tunnel being built under the Narmada valley project collapsed in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Many workers are feared to be trapped under the debris.
As many as three workers have been rescued and were sent to a hospital for treatment.
Work was going on to build an underground tunnel from Bargi Dam on the Narmada River to Bansagar.

The collector and SP are supervising the rescue operation. The team of SDRF Katni and Jabalpur has arrived. The process of making a ratchet to take out the workers trapped under the debris is going on.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken cognisance of the incident in Sleemanabad. He discussed the incident and rescue operation with the Collector of Katni over phone.
