
Ujire SDM school student to represent India at Youth Games in Nepal

Class 9 student Anisha Arol D’Souza wins gold at National Open Youth Games and will represent India in Nepal.
Anisha Arol D’Souza, a Class 9 student of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar English Medium School and SDM Sports Association, Ujire, won gold medal in the National Open Youth Games organised by the Youth Games Council of India (YGCI) at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Delhi recently.
She has been selected for the international-level Youth Games to be held in Nepal from March 26 to 30. She will represent India in the international games.
Ms. D’Souza won gold medal in the shot put competition at the State Level School Olympics Athletics Games held at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru recently.
Earlier, in the Dakshina Kannada district level athletics held at Panja in Sullia taluk, she represented Belthangady taluk in the 17-year-old girls’ shot put event and created a new record in the event by throwing a distance of about 11.43 m.
She is being trained by Sandesh B. Poonja, Physical Education teacher at SDM Pre-University College, Ujire, and Subhash Chandra, Physical Education teacher of the school, a release said.
