Two climbers from Karnataka will attempt to scale the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, as part of the diamond jubilee activities of the Karnataka Mountaineering Association.
The expedition team comprises Santhosh Devarajappa, 40, and Chinmayee Thrishulamurthy, 45, both experienced climbers who have completed several mountaineering courses with distinction and undertaken multiple treks and climbs in the Indian Himalayas as well as in Karnataka.
The climbers will attempt the summit through the traditional southeast route from Nepal during the April-May climbing season. The team is scheduled to leave for Nepal on April 4.
According to the association, the two were selected based on their experience in mountaineering and high-altitude expeditions. Mr. Devarajappa has around 21 years of experience and has participated in several climbs and treks across the Himalayas and other regions, apart from numerous expeditions within Karnataka.
Mr. Thrishulamurthy, with 15 years of experience, has also completed several mountaineering courses and has taken part in multiple treks and climbs in the Himalayas.
