Two arrested after rioting and assault during protest against development work at Kancha Gachibowli; police urge resolution through official channels.
Two individuals have been arrested following an incident of rioting and assault on public servants during a protest against development work at Kancha Gachibowli on Sunday afternoon.
The police have identified them as ‘former students’ B. Rohit Kumar and Erram Naveen Kumar.
According to the police, the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) was carrying out development work at the site in Survey No. 25, Kancha Gachibowli, as per a government order. “Around 3.30 p.m., a group of people, including UoH students and others, gathered at the site, allegedly attempting to stop the work by force. The situation escalated when the group attacked officials and workers with sticks and stones, injuring the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madhapur Division. He reportedly suffered serious injuries to his right knee and ankle,” said the police.
The police have denied allegations that students were subjected to a lathi charge or forcibly removed from their hostels.
Authorities have urged students to avoid misinformation and to seek resolution through official channels. They have also warned that any disruption of law and order will be met with legal action. The two arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody.
