TVK requests police permission for Vijay's campaign meeting in Salem on February 13, expecting 35,000 attendees.
Functionaries of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) have sought permission to conduct party leader Vijay’s campaign meeting at either of two venues in Salem and submitted petitions to the City Police Commissionerate and the district police on Wednesday (February 4, 2026).
According to the petition, Mr. Vijay is scheduled to address the gathering from his vehicle, with about 11,000 party cadre and 24,000 members of the public expected to participate. It said pregnant women, children, elderly persons, and persons with disabilities would not be allowed to attend the meeting, and sought police protection for the event.
A separate petition was also submitted to the City Police Commissioner’s Office seeking permission to conduct the meeting at Seelanaickenpatti in the city on the same date.
Party functionaries said adequate space was available at both locations and requested permission to hold the meeting at either venue.
