Trying to resolve all issues of tribal people: Assam CM after signing Karbi Peace Accord

Assam Chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said the Karbi Peace Accord will help maximise the potential of the Karbi Anglong region and turn around the lives of the tribal people.
The Karbi Peace Accord was inked on Saturday, bringing to a close decades of insurgency by the ethnic group in the state of Assam. Chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is one of the signatories to the agreement along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the leaders of five militant groups, said the accord will help maximise the potential of the Karbi Anglong region and turn around the lives of the tribal people. The Centre and state government will spend around Rs 1,000 crore for the development of the hilly region, said the Assam CM. In terms of reservation, Scheduled Tribes (STs) will get 34 out of 44 seats.More Related News
