
Trouble for Azam Khan as ED eyes SP leader's land, properties

ED officials on Wednesday arrived in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur to carry out an investigation against jailed SP leader Azam Khan in a money laundering case.
A team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials from Lucknow are in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur to carry out an investigation against jailed Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in connection with a money laundering case.
India Today has learnt that the officials are going through the documents pertaining to Jauhar University, whose permanent Chancellor is SP MLA Azam Khan. ED is investigating a disproportionate assets case against the SP leader who is lodged in Sitapur jail.
The ED team is also accompanied by the officials of Revenue Department. Sources said that the ED is also verifying documents pertaining to some properties and land which were allegedly illegally occupied by Azam Khan.
According to sources, ED is also measuring the land that is under investigation by the financial probe agency.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
