
Tripura woman held for forcing four minors into flesh trade in Chennai, hunt on for fleeing suspects

The four minors were brought to Chennai, raped and forced into the flesh trade. The main accused has been arrested and four policemen were transferred for not acting on information and dereliction of duty.
Four minor girls from Tripura, aged 14-17, who were brought to Chennai to be forced into the flesh trade, were rescued by the police. The main accused, Chalema Khatun, was arrested while a hunt was on for the absconding suspects.
An FIR was also filed against four people in the case. Four policemen attached to Kelambakkam station were also transferred for dereliction of duty, as reported by the New Indian Express.
Chalema Khatun belongs to Sunamukhi village in Tripura. She and her husband, Anwar Hussain, brought the kids to Chennai under the guise of getting them jobs in a massage parlour and a hospital.
When they arrived on January 17, the minors were lodged in a rented house in Padur and forced into prostitution.
Alauddin, Moinudeen and Alamgir Hussain, who are associates of Chalema, sexually assaulted the girls and even filmed them. Then, they blackmailed them and forced them into prostitution.
Till January 26, they were taken to different places at night and forced into prostitution.
Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member N Lalitha, who spoke to the girls, said, “The girls were beaten, tortured and raped repeatedly by the accused. Each girl was then sent to six men every day between 7 pm and early morning. They were forced to generate Rs 50,000.”

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
