
Tough fight between BJP and SP for district panchayat president election in Uttar Pradesh

The ruling BJP has managed to win district panchayat president seats in 21 districts. The remaining 53 seats will see a tough contest between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party.
The game is on between the BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP) for the district panchayat president election in Uttar Pradesh. Of 75 districts, 22 district panchayat presidents have been declared elected unopposed and the BJP has managed to capture 21 districts. This has come as a big challenge for the SP, which emerged strong during the panchayat member election. The BJP 'played' with the SP in Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur where many joined the saffron party and were elected unopposed. In Saharanpur, the BSP candidate withdrew nomination. Facing losses, the SP accused the BJP of using machinery to influence candidates.More Related News
