Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials said TMC youth leader Vinay Mishra received Rs 730 crore on behalf of 'influential' person in coal smuggling case.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Vinay Mishra and his brother Vikas Mishra received over Rs 730 crore on behalf of "some influential persons" in the coal smuggling case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said on Tuesday. While Vinay Mishra, believed to be a close associate of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee, is still absconding, his brother Vikas Mishra was arrested by the ED on Tuesday. According to officials, the ED "recovered incriminating evidence and seized them after conducting 49 searches in Kolkata and Delhi in the last two months."
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
