A video showing BJP leader Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria turning away Muslim women during a blanket distribution drive in Rajasthan's Tonk has gone viral. In the video, Jaunapuria is heard telling women that those who abuse Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not get any blankets.
The clip shows Singh handing out blankets to a group of women and asking one of them her name. When she responds with a Muslim name, he instructs his aides not to give her a blanket. “Those who abuse PM Modi have no right to get blankets. I cannot help it if anyone is hurt,” he said. The BJP leader then asks the women to leave the spot.
When some villagers protested, Jaunapuria refused to budge and stood by his remarks, saying, “I give them to whomever I want.” The BJP leader is seen taking back the blankets from the women he had given to.
Later in the video, several people are seen confronting the BJP leader over his refusal to give blankets to Muslim women, telling him that the women had waited for hours before being sent away empty-handed. Singh responds that he does not want to argue and then leaves the spot.
Jaunapuriya later defended his decision to exclude Muslim women from the blanket distribution drive, saying the move was justified.
“People of a particular religion are anti-Modi and keep making baseless comments about him. It is also not true that all Hindus support the BJP. But would people of a particular religion ever come to a Modi rally?” he asked.
