The Kashmir Files has received an unprecedented response from the audience. On March 12, the film’s team, including director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, his wife and actress Pallavi Joshi, and the film’s producer Abhishek, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM congratulated them and appreciated the film.
The Kashmir Files brings the brutally honest story of the Kashmir Genocide to the big screen. In 1990, Kashmiri Pandits were persecuted, forced out of their homeland and murdered. The film attempts to show that dark history to the masses. The Kashmir Files had an extraordinary opening at the box office on March 11 and minted Rs 3.55 crore on the first day.
The film’s team, including director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, Pallavi Joshi and Abhishek, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Kashmir Files witnessed a bumper opening at the box office and earned Rs 3.55 crore despite a limited release. Taran Adarsh’s tweet about its box office collection read, “#TheKashmirFiles springs a BIGGG SURPRISE on Day 1 Despite limited showcasing [630+ screens], the film goes from strength to strength during the course of the day Evening and night shows EXTRAORDINARY SOLID GROWTH on Day 2 and 3 is a surety Fri 3.55 cr. #India biz (sic).”
