The Kashmir Files has already crossed the Rs 250-crore mark worldwide. In India, the film managed to clock in Rs 230 crore approx in 18 days.

Vivek Agnihotri's directorial venture, The Kashmir Files, has won the audience's hearts. Despite stiff competition from various biggies, the film has managed to pull the crowd to the theatres. It has set the cash registers ringing as on Day 18, it reportedly minted Rs 2.50 crore, taking the whole box office collection to Rs 229.62 crore. The Kashmir Files, which released on March 11, is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus during the Kashmir insurgency in 1990. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumaar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi.

The Kashmir Files has crossed the Rs 250-crore mark in the worldwide box office collection. However, in India, it still stands at Rs 229.62 crore according to early estimates. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film will soon cross Rs 250 crore in India alone. He tweeted, "#TheKashmirFiles is UNSTOPPABLE on [third] Sun... Weekend 3 *day-wise growth* is an EYE-OPENER, despite a tough opponent [#RRR]... Now racing towards 250 cr... [Week 3] Fri 4.50 cr, Sat [updated] 7.60 cr, Sun 8.75 cr. Total: 228.18 cr. #India biz (sic)."

The film has braved the storm of RRR in the Hindi belts and will now zoom past the Rs 250 crore mark at the box office soon. It is expected to end in the range of Rs 265 to 275 crores to emerge one of the biggest grossers of all time. Meanwhile, The Kashmir Files had an overall 17.65% Hindi occupancy on Monday, March 28.

The Kashmir Files is based on the life of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. The film is a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of the Kashmiri Pandit Community. It’s a heart-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle and trauma of Kashmiri pandits which also questions eye-opening facts about democracy, religion, politics and humanity.

Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners. The ensemble cast comprises Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit, Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta (Inspired by Farooq Ahmed Dar), Puneet Issar as DGP Hari Narain.
