Director Sam Mendes is bringing The Beatles to the big screen in an unprecedented way. At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, he revealed the cast and confirmed that all four films — each dedicated to one of the legendary band members — will hit theaters in April 2028.

The highly anticipated project, officially titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, will feature Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. The four actors made a surprise appearance at the event, even bowing in the signature style of the Fab Four.

Mendes’ ambitious vision feels unlike any other music biopic. Rather than condensing the band’s legendary journey into one film, he aims to tell their story from four unique perspectives. “It’s a chance to understand them more deeply,” Mendes said, emphasising how each Beatle had a distinct experience shaping their rise from Liverpool to global superstardom.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the project is how the films will be released. Mendes hinted at a “binge-able theatrical experience,” though it remains unclear whether all four films will drop simultaneously or follow a staggered release schedule. Regardless, the director is confident that this event will be a major draw for moviegoers. “We need big cinematic events to get people out of the house,” he told the audience.

This will be the first narrative film to secure full music rights to The Beatles’ legendary catalog. That means classics like Let It Be, Yellow Submarine, and Strawberry Fields Forever will be part of the films.
