Thane district in Maharashtra recorded 26 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the case tally to 7,09,250, according to the health department data.
However, the death toll remained unchanged at 11,894. The mortality rate in the district stood at 1.67 per cent.
Meanwhile, in the Palghar district, the Covid-19 case count stood at 1,63,612 and the death toll at 3,407.
COVID-19 CASES IN MAHARASHTRA
Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 223 Covid-19 cases and two deaths, taking the overall tally to 78,79,622 and the toll to 1,47,849, according to the data.
Mumbai reported 122 Covid-19 cases, a steep rise from the 63 cases detected a day earlier and the seventh time the daily addition to the tally was above the 100-mark this month.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
