
Telangana CM KCR, ministers to stage dharna on April 11 against Centre's paddy procurement policy

Telangana ministers led by CM KCR along with other MPs and MLAs will hold protests against the Centre's paddy procurement policy on April 11.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and other ministers will stage a dharna in Delhi on April 11 to protest against the Centre's paddy procurement policy.
All Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs, MLAs, MLCs along with other elected representatives are expected to join the protest. The venue for the protest at Telangana Bhavan is being set up.

Telangana’s demand was that the Centre procure paddy produced in the rabi season from the state under the National Food Security Act. The TRS has accused the Centre, especially Union food and public distribution minister Piyush Goyal, of adopting a discriminatory procurement policy.
KCR has claimed that while the Centre procures an entire marketable surplus of paddy and wheat in states like Punjab and Haryana it is not being done in Telangana.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
