Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy inaugurates restored Bam Rukn-ud-Dowla lake, emphasizing women's safety and lake policing initiatives.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the restored Bam Rukn-ud-Dowla Lake in Shivrampally of Hyderabad on Sunday (March 8, 2026).
The extent of the waterbody reduced from 104 acres to 4.2 acres. Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) removed encroachments, took up development works and restored it to 17.5 acres.
The lake was built over 250 years ago, in 1770, by Nawab Mir Moosa Khan Rukn-ud-Dowla Bahadur who served as a prime minister during Nizam’s era, as per a press note from HYDRAA. It was built with his funds, to address water shortage in Hyderabad.
