Tamil Nadu police seize 20 tonnes of smuggled red sanders worth Rs 10 crore

TN police seized 150 logs of ‘A’ grade red sanders worth at least Rs 10 crore that were stored for safekeeping in a yard near the Madurai-Tuticorin highway.

Nearly 20 tonnes of ‘A’ grade smuggled red sander (sandalwood) logs were seized from a yard in Tamil Nadu on Monday, January 10.

The logs were under safekeeping on a truck in the yard near Pudur Pandiyapuram toll plaza on the Madurai-Tuticorin national highway when they were seized.
