The NIA conducted raids at three locations in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur city on Saturday morning.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team conducted raids at three locations in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur city around 6am in the morning on Saturday.
Sources said that the search was initiated at the residences of Abdul Khader, a two-wheeler mechanic followed by Ahmed, based on clues from Abdul Khader who was arrested a year ago for reportedly being a part of the Khilafat movement, and another person called Mannai Baba who was arrested four months ago.
The search went for five hours and began to face hindrance after a large group gathered outside Khader and Ahmed’s residence and began to raise slogans against NIA officers. Local police intervened immediately and avoided any untoward incident.
Both Khader and Ahmed stated later that the NIA team took details of their Aadhar cards, confiscated their phones and took texts explaining verses of the Quran.
Further investigation is underway.
