
Tamil Nadu: Man booked under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting 3-year-old

A three-year-old child was sexually assaulted in in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy. The suspect has been arrested and booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police in Tamil Nadu’s Trichy arrested a man for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl. The incident came to light after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint at Thiruverumbur police station.
According to the complaint, the accused, a resident of Olaiyur village, took the child to a secluded spot where he sexually assaulted her.
People living nearby rushed to the scene of crime after hearing the child’s screams. The accused fled the spot as soon as he saw other people approaching.
Police started investigating the case after receiving the complaint and nabbed the suspect in short order. He has been identified as Arockiya Savaridas and booked under section 9(m) and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
