
Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan of March ensures Kadri Temple surroundings are cleaned

Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan's March drive successfully cleaned Kadri Temple surroundings, promoting community involvement in cleanliness efforts.
The March cleanliness drive of Ramakrishna Mission – Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan, ensured the surroundings of the historic Kadri Temple in the city were cleaned on Sunday.
Pranjal Ghate, economist, Government of Ontario, Canada and Manjaiah Shetty, senior health officer, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) flagged off the drive in the presence of former MLC captain Ganesh Karnik, Swachh Mangaluru Coordinator Ranjan Bellarpady and others.
Mr. Ghate said, “Working with the international community, I understand the global importance of cleanliness. I truly appreciate the dedicated efforts of volunteers and the citizens of Mangaluru in sustaining this impactful cleanliness drive led by the Ramakrishna Mission.“
A team of senior volunteers, including Balakrishna Bhat, Anirudh Naik, Prakash, Ramachandra Bhatt, Gangadhara Shastry, Padmanabha Salin, Avinash, Babitha Shetty, Rajeevi Chandrashekhar, Sukumar Salin and others cleaned the Kadri Temple parking area. They removed waste, cleared unscientific barricades and unnecessary boards and created awareness among the parking staff, encouraging them to ensure that visitors make proper use of the available waste bins.
At the Kadri Temple Main Road, faculty from the Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy—Purushothaman Chippala, Jayesh Chandran, Ruchitha, Hemanth and Socrate, along with student volunteers, carried out an intensive cleaning drive. They removed accumulated garbage, recovered non-recyclable plastics and cleared unauthorised banners.
