SUV catches fire after hit-and-run in Bengaluru, injuring a woman; police investigate the dramatic incident captured on CCTV.
A dramatic hit-and-run incident was reported in north Bengaluru on Saturday (March 7, 2026) night after an SUV allegedly rammed into a motorcycle and dragged it for some distance, eventually leading to the car catching fire.
The incident occurred at 1st Cross, Jayamahal, under the jurisdiction of the RT Nagar Traffic Police Station. According to the police, a SUV hit a motorcycle carrying a woman, leaving her injured.
After the collision, the SUV driver allegedly continued to drive, dragging the motorcycle along the road. During the process, petrol leaked from the bike and the friction is suspected to have triggered a fire in the car.
Locals who witnessed the incident chased the SUV as flames began to emerge from the vehicle. A few occupants managed to get down and fled from the spot. However, one of the occupants was caught by the public.
After a brief argument with the crowd, the man reportedly told them that he would park the burning vehicle on the side of the road. But he quickly got into the driver’s seat and sped away from the spot.
The entire incident was captured on nearby CCTV cameras.
