Suspended Raj Bhavan employee arrested again for theft of hard disk

Suspended Raj Bhavan employee arrested again for theft of hard disk

A suspended Raj Bhavan employee was arrested twice this month for theft of hard disk from his workplace

A suspended employee of the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad has been arrested for the second time this month, following allegations that he stole a hard disk from his workplace. The theft comes days after he was booked in a separate case involving the morphing and circulation of obscene photographs of a female colleague.

According to a press release issued by Panjagutta ACP S. Mohan Kumar on Tuesday (May 20, 2025), the incident first came to light on May 10, when a female employee at the Raj Bhavan filed a complaint alleging that her images were digitally altered in an obscene manner and shared with another employee.

The accused, identified as 45-year-old Srinivas — an IT hardware technician employed at the Raj Bhavan — was arrested two days later and sent to judicial remand. He was later released on bail and suspended from his duties.

Despite being under suspension, Srinivas reportedly returned to the Raj Bhavan premises and unlawfully removed a hard disk from the system he had been previously using. On May 14, the Raj Bhavan’s IT manager filed a fresh complaint regarding the missing hardware. Srinivas was once again taken into custody on May 15, and the hard disk was recovered.

The police have clarified that reports circulating in some media outlets about outsiders breaking into Raj Bhavan and stealing sensitive documents are “completely false”. The theft, they emphasised, was an internal incident involving a suspended employee, and no documents of official importance were lost or compromised. Authorities have reiterated that appropriate legal action is being taken, and the matter is under investigation.
